Weaving Webs of Wonder

This morning I noticed the yard was full of spider webs, literally. I’ve never seen anything like it. Spider webs all over the grass and many of them in the trees. It looked like a bunch of witches and goblins live here!
A little research provided some help on why these appeared. First of all, they are not just new, probably are there all the time, but we had a heavy dew overnight and they showed up. The ones on the ground are called funnel spiders, and are beneficial predators of other insects. They won’t hurt us and won’t come in the house, and will only bite if provoked. I’m not going to provoke them.
The ones in the air were also visible because of the dew. We live in the woods, and spiders are everywhere. We just noticed them this morning.
Another thing I found – it is a common saying in the hills, that when there is dew on the spider webs in the morning, it will be a beautiful day.
